Debt Advice Support Worker

 
2 posts available : 37 hours a week & 18.5 hours a week.  Job share may be considered.
Salary: £21,472 pro-rata per annum, this post is funded for 9 months until the end June 2021, subject to funding.
Location: Blackpool area
Citizens Advice Rossendale & Hyndburn and Citizens Advice Blackpool have secured 9 months funding to help people who may be facing financial difficulties due to Covid 19.  We will help clients avoid the burden of energy debt, make informed energy choices and help them take control of their household finances, leading to healthier homes and improved wellbeing.  This could be an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to move into advice work, as we will provide full training and provide opportunities to specialise in debt advice.
 
The Role
The Debt Advice Support Worker (DASW) will provide advice, practical support and advocacy face to face, over the phone and through digital channels including video calls.  The role will include triaging clients seeking help with financial issues, giving advice about debt & financial literacy, welfare benefits, energy advice and impartial advice on getting the best consumer deals to reduce expenditure.  This role will also help people gather the information they need for a debt advice appointments and follow up with clients to ensure their problems have been resolved.
 
The Candidate
The right candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to work sensitively with clients to help them resolve their problems, have excellent communication and listening skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.  You will also be confident in using technology to deliver advice to clients and be able explain complex information in  a way that can be easily  understood.  
 
This role will be based partly at the offices in Blackpool and remotely from home.  This post may require local travel and you must be able to fulfil the travel requirement.
