  • Blackpool Fylde and Wyre credit union is your local, ethical and not-for-profit financial services organisation. It is a financial cooperative owned and run by its members all of whom live or work right here on the Fylde coast.

    It is governed by a volunteer board of directors all of whom are members of the credit union and can have its members best interests at heart.

    Credit unions seek to assist in improving the financial education and situation of its members.

    It encourages savings culture and provides savings accounts. It also provides affordable credit, which is particularly important in the current financial climate where mainstream lenders are not providing for your needs.

    Blackpool Fylde and Wyre credit union has over 2000 members who live or work on the Fylde coast.

    They have built up over £500,000 in savings and have benefited from low-cost loans of over £1 million saving them over £620,000 in interest alone when compared to the main doorstep lenders.

    Savers have benefited from dividends, last year at 2.25% on the year before at 3%.

    Credit union is free to join, has no arrangement fees, no early settlement fees and no penalty charges.

    Members savings are covered by free like protection insurance which can double the members savings on debt for the benefit of their named beneficiary.

    Loans are also covered by free like protection which can clear the balance of the loans on the member's death.

    Members come from all walks of society from employees who pay into the credit union by direct deductions from their payroll, through to benefit claimants were choosing to save and borrow by putting the benefit payments directly into the credit union.
